  • Individuals & Couples

Sometimes anxiety, emotional dysregulation, identity questions, self-harming behaviours, or thoughts of suicide can make up part of an individuals life.

My experience as a counsellor in private practice, in high schools, and in the Dalhousie University Student Services Centre has given me a first-hand understanding of the issues faced by people, and the ability to help them and their families maintain personal well being and balance.

Collaboration has been at the center of my work as a former educator and instructional coach. Building connections with complementary community agencies to best support clients is the heart of my work as a counselling therapist.

As a mother to three adult children, I understands parents' and guardians' motivation to find reliable, sound supports for their families.

A safe counselling process for those experiencing mental distress.

  • Support...

Mental health concerns can have significant impacts on work and academic performance as well as personal well being. As a mental health care practitioner with a solid background in university & school counselling, I appreciate the advantages and limitations which exist within public and private education systems.

I can provide professional and timely access to personal counselling which can help individuals and families cope, build resiliency, and see the possibility of a different pattern. I can also help build connections to additional community supports.

Counselling that connects families & community

Workplace, School and self referrals are welcome for individuals 19 years and older.

Simply Well Being Counselling & Self Care accepts Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) claims and private, out-of-pocket requests for counselling.

  •

    Therapy...

Collaboration can take many forms. Counselling might look like working on situation-specific challenges or unpacking your lived experience. It might look like learning practical, day-to-day techniques or leaning into deeper work.

A counselling therapist is someone who can 'come alongside' on your journey

    A flexible process

Via telehealth, I offer a safe space in which to learn and to be understood. I supports clients in establishing goals within a framework that's loose enough to be adapted or changed. Revisiting progress together helps clients determine if they're moving in a direction that's meaningful for them.

    Making the decision to

    access counselling...

Taking the first step can be very much like a scary,

    exhilarating climb.

To get where we want to be,

we have to trust that the supports will hold,

that we have the strength to climb,

and that the pay off will be worth it.

  • Trauma-informed Practice

"Becoming trauma informed includes respecting and honouring the fact that what is learned from the experience of trauma is a kind of knowledge."

    -- Linde Zingaro, 2012

Trauma-informed practice is concerned with making interactions, services, and systems receptive and supportive of people who have been overwhelmed, are fearful, and have difficulty trusting and self-regulating.
